4 Flower Stalks on my Amaryllis!
Default 4 Flower Stalks on my Amaryllis!

Ok, not on one bulb. sorry to get you all excited. hehe

This is my favorite variety, Show Master.
The mother bulb and the baby bulb are each sending up two stalks.
The baby bulb is two years old and I was not expecting a flower stalk out of it, but it is sending up two!
In the picture, you can't see the other stalk on the baby bulb because of the angle.

It looks like I will see the one stalk blooming and the followed by the other three blooming around the same time.

I need to repot it before the bulb gets too big and can't get them out. lol

First pic shows the well developed stalk on the baby bulb.
Second pic shows the closeup of the two stalks on the mother bulb.

I am. The main bulb had 8-10 leaves on it and both babies were working on 4 when the cold hit the greenhouse. Babies are already starting to grow new ones.

In just a few days, these stalks have been developing quite fast.

Wow, that's looking great.

Mine has a stalk emerging on each of the two bulbs, but mine grows leaves first. Each bulb has 4-5 half height leaves that are growing and the stalks are one just emerging and one with the 'bud' just cleared the bulb.

Now all fours stalks are about the same height, very tall, although the first one is the tallest and began opening revealing the flower buds inside.

Rosie- The baby bulb on mine is pushing two leaves now and the mother bulb has no leaves showing yet.
I have read that growing leaves before or after or at the same time as the flowers are both characteristics of each varieties and something that can be controlled to certain degree (lower temp discourages the leaf development ).

I prefer not to have leaves until after flowers are gone, but oh, well...

I'm expecting to see flowers around this weekend. yay!!!

My updates are a couple of days behind. lol
The rest of the stalks are catching up at an astonishing speed and now they are all about the same height.
The first stalk has four flowers open today. Flower shots to be followed. Stay tuned!

Default Open!!!

So this is the very first flower to open.
It is one of the four flowers of the first spike and it is from the baby bulb, so I'm impressed with the number of the flowers it made.
Two other spikes just began to peel off and showing buds inside. Quite a bunch as usual.
This is my all time favorite Amaryllis flower for sure.
So pretty!!!
