Cavendishia grandifolia
Hi all,
In bloom last month and probably this month too at the New York Botanical Gardens. This is a truly spectacular plant which must measure several yards in width as it does measure 2-3 yards in pendulus growths. On the stems are leaves that are over a foot long but no very wide. And when in bloom, you get this:

This is another tropical blueberry from the neotropics. I love this family (Ericaceae).

I know they keep the section of the conservatory this plant is in about 10 degrees cooler. As soon as you walk in from the other sections, you feel a huge difference. This section of their conservatory is partially below ground, so I think that aids in keeping it cooler.
