e.s., apparently you haven't been watching the weather in the southeast USA recently. For months we have had much higher rain than normal. Ground is so saturated that we get flood warnings with nearly every rain.

Not to rub it in but "Godzilla" El Nino has been very kind to my area. Not so much for you guys down SE. Nor the East Coast/Eastern seaboard.

We've had a warm winter with very little snow so far, but quite a bit of rain.
February is usually our nastiest month, so we'll see. Winter's far from over. First week of May is our last chance of frost.

If it wasn't for the big one 2 weeks ago, I'd still be wondering when winter was going to arrive. I potted up and plunged a bunch of native orchids this fall, and in early January I had to bring in the pot with the Platanthera because they started coming up.

As Katrina said, Ohio has been having a very pleasant, mild weather. We had only a little snow during a brief few days here. I would be thrilled if it wasn't for the fact that I have fruit trees. I am concerned that my peach and plum trees are going to break early. The last time that happened, the peach tree nearly died.

They were predicting California was going to wash into the Pacific by now.

My encyclias (outside) are starting to spike and I saw a pair of hawks in love in my yard today, so maybe there's hope for an early spring.
