Default Queen's Tears (Billbergia nutans)

An epiphytic bromeliad native to Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina
- aka Friendship Plant, which is an apt name ...

A neighbor gave me this big pot about a year and a half ago (she still has a big pot of it, plus has given another big pot away). I already have a second little pot of it now, as I accidentally pulled out a couple growths last year when I was trying to pull off dead leaves. I just stuck them in a small pot with some sphag, and they've not missed a beat. At that time, I also discovered the hard way that the leaves have tiny spines on them

An easy grower; temperature tolerant - I covered it for a short period when there were some mornings with some frost.

Oooh, that bloom is incredible! What a nice potted plant it makes. I have not had a bromeliad in a long time. Very nice!

Wow!!! That is an awesome inflorescence!!! I love this plant. Too bad about the spines though.
