Default Datura species

Aside from its chemical effects these plants do produce beautiful blooms with great scents. This one had a strong perfume which it emitted for one day. The flower then died promptly.
Its also known as a thornapple or Angel's Trumpets and is in the deadly nightshade family. Peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, egg plants, Petunias and tobacco are also members.

I just love datura! I used to have a double purple one that I just adored, but it unfortunately succumbed to spider mites.

Wonderful!

I had not realised until I just looked them up that they are in the nightshade family.
