Amorphophallus konjac

Hi there, today I dig out my Amorphophallus konjac tubers. Next spring the biggest one should finally flower flowers are beautiful but they STINK of rotting flesh

They are related to Calla: Amorphophallus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The biggest one is 1800g (4 lb): I grow this species in very rich soil (80%) with lava rock and leca for drainage. Always moist, rich feeds and full sun. During dormancy I dig out tubers and keep them at 14/15°C (59°F) until spring.

does anybody else grow this plants?

I think I shall have to get some corms and grow them.

I find it easier to just leave some hamburger out when I want to smell rotting meat!

Also I know it contains some substances that help to lose fat, but that's not my firs purpose

ahahah but that's a waste of food, this is all natural and biological without waste

I know and like konjac as food! I didn't know it came from that genus!

yes interesting indeed. I stick to grape jelly and let the rest of the world eat my share of konjac jelly thank you. I live next to Burger King too long and thats pretty close to rotten meat.

I was growing an A. bulbifer outdoors and I got lazy and forgot to dig it out before the winter. I guess I lost it.

Hi! don't know the hardiness of bulbifer. This should resist at 7-8°C if complete dry. Now the bigger tuber is about to arrive at the complete flowering (And dead meat smell....): 140 cm Tall! Gonna post some pics in 3 or 4 days ;-)
