Did anyone out there know there was a plants called "HOOKERS LIPS PLANT" ?
Well, there is, and herewith some info.
Hooker’s lips plant - Psychotria elata
While it is completely understandable to believe that the flowers of the Hooker's Lips plant - Psychotria elata are nothing more than a poorly executed, photoshopped hoax, this assumption couldn't be further from the truth. The Hooker's Lips plant is a genuine, flowering tree from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. The flowers that are represented in the image are not true flowers but instead are colourful, waxy bracts. A bract is a modified or specialized leaf, usually associated with a reproductive structure, in this case the flower. The vibrant, bright red inflorescences appear from December to March and are used to attract insect pollinators such as butterflies, but more specifically hummingbirds. The fruits are oval berries which turn dark blue or almost black once mature.
The true flowers are far smaller, white, star-shaped blooms which emerge from the center of the bracts. Sadly, the Hooker's lips plants is under threat in its native habitat due to deforestation and an increase in popularity with plant collectors.
Seed of the Hooker's lips plant do seem to be available, but you will need to replicate is natural environment for the seeds to germinate and then flourish. For successful germination provide warm, moist, humid conditions, after which your juvenile plants will need a sheltered position and some dappled shade to protect them from bright sunlight.
