Credit card hacked

getting new cards is what all 56 million of us should have done the second we heard about. And when we heard about the breach, the damage started so they could rob us before we could act...My mom went to the bank to get new cards and they asked if her card had been used and she said no and they talked her out of getting new cards telling her just check her statements. Its INACTION that has caused this. No action caused the reaction. If they dont want to issue you new cards let them just refund your money when it comes thru I told her.. She said she going to close the acct.. Ya!!..The banks are in denial too...

the media are trying to soften HD's role in this by saying all of who use credit anywhere could have this happen. We know that but it didnt start snowballing till HD was hit. Some said HD had known about the malware since april and had been working to remove it...hmmmm

This is a mess, I'm going to just put it out there. We have become way to lax about punishing people. And society has let people get lazy and want things without working hard for them.

One of my little men (he is 97) is now in the nursing home. I have been trying to get some of the things out of his apartment for his son whom lives in Texas. The manager of the apartment house said she had a kid that had just moved in and he had nothing.

So we asked his son if the kid could have some stuff. He said yes so the manager took the kid in there he got a chair, card table, TV, microwave,towels, the blender I wanted, then I noticed he had taken cleaning products. Scrubbing bubbles that I had bought, comet and a brand new bottle of floor cleaner. REALLY! I mean really!

Ok so I'll let it go, if a kid wants to clean let it be, trying to help someone right? So then the manager leaves me a message the kid is wondering about his turn table and speakers. Well it was my husband that said, what does a kid want with a turn table he won't have records so we are thinking he wants to sell them. So said kid is done he got enough stuff for free.

I go in there last Monday and I hadn't noticed he had taken the laundry soap. Now I'm pissed, I have laundry still to do and why just why do I have to haul soap into town.

Long story short but not so short. It doesn't even do you any good to try and help a fellow human being out. I'm so sick of bending over!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the rant. OK one more WAKE UP PEOPLE.

I think I'm done now. I'm going to go water my orchids and see if they calm me down.

I just had my share Monday.
Someone spent $950 at CVS in a different city using my credit card. Who spends that much money at CVS on a single shopping? I'm speechless.

Anyways, doing a daily online account check helps to catch these kind of stuff on a timely manner so you can report right away like I did.
I cut the card and a new one is on the way.

Was probably someone buying Gift Cards. It's the most common thing they buy and can be used anywhere once they have your money. The bank should be able to contact CVS and get the card #'s purchased to have them canceled if they haven't already been spent.

I'm having all new cards issued. While haven't been hit yet (knock on wood) we've been remodeling and shopping alot at HD the past few months. Better safe than sorry.

RJ sorry this happened to you, hope all works out well for you in the end! (and everyone else this has happened to, too!!)

I don't understand the inconsistencies with security. On numerous occasions if I buy gas out of my zipcode, I have been asked to enter my zipcode at the pump as a security measure. My card has to have a location ID. Why can't they have a similar security for retail purchases + then prompt for ID proof ? At least do it for single purchases above a certain $ amount. The lack of any security can only be because its the credit card company on the hook for fraud, not the store - but geez we are all in this together !

woot got my money back and went to the bank today.They told me they were replacing all member debit cards (credit union).
Its a shock to your system for sure NYC. You jus dont know how to feel cus you just cant go out n catch em like you would like to do. These are those moments where some of our lives will be changed forever. Had 3 at work today.
I Hope you all have such great service from your bank recovering your funds.

All I can say is stay on top of the cards right now. I had to shuffle a lot of auto pay debts and transferred them to a push rather than a pull. I have to push the button to send them mony where as most pull it from your acct...

Im feeling much better now knowing my 2nd house payment wont be late..and I got some nice fat buds all over the greenhouse too
