I finally got back with it on April 3rd
Rejoined a gym where I could get a personal trainer. One of the problems that people have once they receive a kidney transplant is that the area around the incision has some swelling, I think due in part to the surgery itself and in part to the anti-rejection drugs. In any case, I signed up for 15 "lessons" for abdominal and core work. I have gotten back on the treadmill, in addition to my regular workouts. I have gone from walking four miles on days when I don't lift to walking eight miles. As long as I don't hurt myself, I will continue to do this. Believe me, I will not overtrain because I know what happens if you do.

Since my last post to this thread
I have made some more changes in my programs. Tomorrow, I start doing abdominal and core work with a personal trainer. I have also changed my exercise/treadmill routine. Before about the 10th, I had been walking four miles per day. I have changed that to walking four miles per day on days when I also lift weights. On days when I do not lift weights, I am now walking eight miles. So far, since the 10th, I have walked 36 miles and I am presently at 66 miles for the month. I probably won't walk but a few miles tomorrow, but the ab/core work will probably do a very good job of kicking my butt. Might be a few days before I really get with it again. I had intended to walk 100 miles last month but I ended up with bronchitis. This month, I will not be denied. If things work out the way I planned, it should come out closer to 130 miles, but you know how that goes!

Bought some new dumbbells yesterday
They are almost like those ones made by Bowflex, only they are not plastic, which obviously will break if you drop them. They go from 5-50# and should make my workouts take less time. They have the capability to add two more parts that would add 40# each, so they will go to 90# and ultimately to 130#, not that I will need them any time soon. I go for my ab and core work today. It went much easier than I thought last week, so it will be better this week. I have cut my walking time back, but intensified it by walking at a 5% incline. It makes a big difference.

Yesterday was my birthday and I have conquered
my quest to walk a hundred miles in a month. It took me some time, but I git it done. However, I have found that I don't have to walk that far and have the same effect if I increase the incline. That gives me some time for other things I want to do, like take care of my orchids.

Thanks much
I have been working for quite some time to make the 100 miles. Now that it has happened, I am doing something else. I am trying realy hard to get in the best shape I can be in. I am feeling better than I have in a long time, working at ab and core stuff, or at least starting to. Once that is conquered, I will have to look at doing something else. I had to make my workouts shorter because it was taking up too much time. That stiff that they say on the bowflex commercials is a whole lot of hooey. If you are not all ready in excellent shape, 20 minutes three days a week won't do anything. And thank you Sue. I appreciate it.
