Default Parrot

Hi,
Recently I was surprised to see a parrot on our Tangelo tree he/she was calling someone, then my better-half spoke to her.
The parrot took some feed from her hand and eventually a bird lover adopted her and a beautiful Blue and Yellow Macaw is her companion

It's a blue-fronted Amazon! Must be someone's escaped pet.

Not a Blue Front, it's an Orange Wing. Just so happens there's a subspecies of Orange Wing endemic to Trinidad and Tobago.........

My first parrot, way back when it was legal was a wild caught Orange Wing.

Wild caught as a baby or an adult?
If it was the latter, do they get tamed also??

I would love to have parrots, but with all the noise they can generate every morning, I would totally get kicked out my building. lol

Birds are noisy. Our cockatiels passed away a couple of years ago and my hubby and I agreed that we did not have time to adopt another pair, but I really missed Greybird wolf whistling at me and saying "Hey babe." When I came down the stairs every morning. Talk about your confidence booster!

I was so relieved when my daughter wanted to adopt a pair of parakeets from our local animal shelter. Now, my house is filled with their chatter. They're not as loud as 'tiels. Maybe a smaller bird would be a better fit for you?

Beautiful parrot! I've always admired parrots but have never gone beyond the parakeets. Currently, I have three parakeets and a zebra finch. They keep the house lively.
The zebra finch is the last of a little flock. He was so depressed when the second-to-last died that he just huddled in a corner and wouldn't eat. I put him with the parakeets nearly two years ago and all has been surprisingly well.

Sorry to hear about your finches, Leafmite. I am happy the last of your flock is doing well with the parakeets.

It was a young adult. You can tell by the eyes and the nails. It was fully on its own when captured, so working out the relationshipwas a bit challenging, and I bled many times. But after he discovered that I = grapes, we had a pretty decent arrangement.
