Now I'm cooking with gas!

Got my New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Certificate of Authority to collect New York State sales tax! This also allows me to buy anything (pots, plants, medium, etc.) I sell tax-free.

This is going to be kind of a pain though, I have to file a report every quarter even if I don't sell anything, otherwise they'll charge me $50.

I'll re-ask this question here: How much do you think this plant would go for?

Well, I just had my first day at the market. i got a LOT of interest, but unfortunately only one bite.

The day did turn out to be profitable, though. I bought a piece of crockery that was marked down from $35 to $10 thinking I'd drill some holes in it and make it a pot. Turns out, i looked up the markings on it and it seems to be worth $120 - $150 on eBay! It's some really big container of snuff from the 1880s!

Antiques Roadshow, baby!

Sorry to hear not too many bites on the plants, but things will improve. What did your booth/table look like? Any pics?

Also I am thinking that your sales will be more successful in months where there is a holiday like valentines, mother's day, etc. Summer I think is a bad time for this kind of thing.

Yeah, some people told me they'd like to buy something but are going somewhere for the entire summer. I exchanged information with several people.

What I need to do is make a websiite and upload it to GoDaddy and then use Google AdSense to target people in the neighborhood looking at related websites. I already have strangeandunusualplants.com. For now something simple I think will even be helpful.

You know, I kept wanting to take pics and kept forgetting and by the time I realized I didn't take any, we were already halfway done emptying the space! But, it was a pretty good spot I think, not too far from the 76th St. entrance, on the corner of an aisle. The table got some direct sunlight in the late afternoon which was nice for the carnivorous plant, they loved it! The tables were nice and the tents were really nice too, bright clean white. I think this is going to work out, I just need people to know that I'm there.
