Really love these. Does this one have a strong fragrance?

I have some sort of hoya (with flat pink/white rosette like flowers) and it has a very strong sweet fragrance. It's not flowered for years though, it used to all the time. My mum has the same one (mine was a cutting of her's) growing all over one wall of her front conservatory style porch. It's a massive plant and is usually covered in flowers all the time. I love it

Sorry, just seen your comment on scent above.

Doing a search online mine might be Hoya carnosa or something similar. It's flowers are certainly very similar to pictures I've found of that.

My mum keeps hers very very dry, so dry the plant often looks dehydrated, it's also a very bright south facing spot. She thinks mine might be both too dark, and too much water... it stopped flowering when I moved it to the current spot, and that's also when I repotted which kept it wetter than it used to be.

I have read that hoyas love to be root bound, so I have never repotted any of my hoyas yet.

Default hoya kerrii variegata

I grow this Hoya kerrii variegata like a succulent, since it has more succulent-like leaves and stem. Maybe that is why your mom keeps her Hoya dry, sometimes it is that type of hoya.

I have it outdoors but in shade, I made the mistake of putting it in full sun last year and the leaves bleached badly. But it has overwintered indoors and recovered nicely now. I love its heart shape and variegation..now if only it will try and bloom

Yes, I had to repot to stop it overbalancing, but I also think it preferred being root bound. My Mun's has been in the same pot about 20 years now and it's a tiny pot compared to the overall plant size which just climbs over a wall trellis.

However my repot was about 9 years ago, and I had hoped it would have filled the new pot by now. The actual plant keeps getting bigger. I wind it round and round it's self. There used to be a wire loop in there somewhere but if it's still there it's completely hidden by the wound plant.

Love those variegated heart shaped leaves on yours!

This discussion and my searches to try and find which type I have, has made me think I want more different ones of these. However my orchid take up the good spots (that's why the one I have is in a less than optimum spot).

That hoya is lovely! My hoya is currently getting ready to bloom. I just water mine once a week, so I treat it like any other houseplant.

I got it from my gramma, I didn't know it could bloom. I had it in a VERY hot window sil, and then moved it to a bit cooler spot, it's bloomed regularly ever since!

I think my hoya outdoors wants some more humidity..sadly that's as much as it can get here..I think I got the lighting right, it is actively doing new vines, leaves looks better..but as to flowering..another story..
