Lol, they are an interesting looking flower for sure...

I must admit that when searching for it earlier this week that's what I thought of when I saw the flowers.

Agree..it is Anthurium. If your mom really intends to keep it in that container with no drainage, maybe she can use water crystals or polymer gels together with the hydroton rocks, that way the roots still gets their moisture and some air circulation. I do that with my Dracaena, Pothos and Amaryllis.

the blooms are quite often used in 'ikebana' as they can last a long time. unfortunately it wont bloom without some good hot shaded sun.

Pothos can be grown like this? I have some cuttings in water on my window sill that have started roots...I was going to just pot it in soil but I love the look of the hydroton in glass. I just bought a bag of plant!t clay pebbles that I was going to use for my lucky bamboo that's just in water right now.

Yes, you can grow pothos in that set-up too. Sometimes I use mix of hydroton rocks or just the water gels. Works well, no stinking water..no gnats. Here are some of mine.

Awesome! Now that I think of it I have some of those gel beads I could use. Should I wait for the roots to be a certain length before putting in with the gel things and hydroton?

I just realized that the plant I have on my window sill is philodendron, not pothos. Can they be grown with the water gels and hydroton too?
