irphrog, I don't really know where you are from
but here in the Midwest, I bought a kit through Charley's Greenhouse. It is Twin-Wall construction. I have had it for about 5 years. The things that you need to consider when buying a greenhouse are many. Typical weather is obviously one of them. Then you have to figure out how you are going to heat and cool it. In the summertime, the greenhouse is so hot that I bring my orchids out and put them on a 8'8" cedar bench that I have in my front yard. I have two giant trees in my front yard, so once the leaves come out, my plants get dappled sun. I really think they like the fresh air, too. I heat my greenhouse in the wintertime with electric heat-two small electric heaters.

Chris (Kiki-do) and I aren't too far away from each other, and I got a 8-12" of snow, and temps are in the teens to low 20s. No such thing as "global warming" here! lol One of the great things about orchids is that you can have lots of color when the outdoors has none.
Your sun room sounds lovely Chris. Maybe I should stop by for a visit sometime!

Sara, the only thing that I will
tell you that you should do if you can-whatever size greenhouse you think will serve your purposes, buy the next size up, because it won't take you long to fill it up.

Wow, I forgot that other people are having a a really hard winter. To those folks, I sincerely apologize and hope that all will be better soon!
The whole greenhouse thing is so overwhelming....I think I'm going to go with a lath house and some sunscreening and see how that works...not to mention that option would be much less expensive to start.
Thank you everyone

I would call that "Survival Orchid Purchase." Happens to the best of us. Suddenly you are shopping for others, feeling overwhelmed....eyes glass over....breathing gets harder......it's scary! The only sane thing to do is buy an orchid to keep yourself from going over the edge.
Yup, sounds like it came on fast, too. Good thing you had orchids handy. The Orchid MD would say, "Buy two orchids and call me in the morning." You did the right thing. Give yourself a pat on the back! kiki-do

So apparently you guys haven't heard what they're calling it now? It's not gobal warming anymore...it's now called Global Weirding!
Great shot of the great white north Marty, we had to shovel at least three times during that storm. Looks like you had some help. And of coarse I had to get to work.
