The internet assigned it to me. I added the "e" for no other reason than to differentiate myself from all the other people named anonymous.

"Aussie" because I am one. "Bloomin" because that's what I try to do It was also supposed to be a euphemistic dysphemism inspired by Peter Cundall's Gardening Australia weekly farewell... "well that's your bloomin lot for the week" (in a thick Manchester accent)

Mine is a nickname a local artist gave me when I was little.
I always liked how it looked and rolled off my tongue so I chose it.
And I really couldn't think of anything else.
I didn't wanna do anything orchid related because I wasn't too sure if I was sticking around.
Which now I am lol.

OMG! Jorma will get a kick out the fact that his pic (Geez, he looks so young!) made it onto an orchid forum. How funny!
Not sure about your interest in art...but, Jorma and Vanessa opened an art gallery that showcases all that is the pychedelic rock and roll era of the 60's. It's on the prop w/the Fur Peace Ranch and it's really something. This Spring some of Grace Slick's art will be on exhibit. Just thought I'd mention it....check it out...

Sorry for the highjack but I couldn't resist.

The night I joined OB and being a Newbie having a special name just wasn't going to happen. I like my own name and it has made it easy for friends who know me to find my postings and Gallery "Just look for Lorraine".
PS....I have enough trouble maneuvering around online and remembering passwords, etc!

All this time I thought it was because maybe you liked Phalaenopsis bellina species and hybrids.

Great thread. Well I think mine is self explanatory. When I joined I was not doing well with my orchids and was tired of killing them. so I am a NO pro.
All my other forums are dog ones and I wanted something different. I really can't tell you why. I wanted something nice but my mind was just blank.
I love some of the names.

Sak ikim lol is the Mayan name of the Rhyncholaelia digbyana, native from Yucatan Peninsula.
Sak= white
ikim= feathers
lol= flower
indeed, because the ruffled lip.
I´m Yucateco and living in Mérida.
By the way here in Yucatan very few people know this orchid. Believe it or not I don´t have Rhyncholaelia digbyana. A friend told me that she is going to share with me some pseudobulbs from her garden, but indeed I don´t like to take plants from jungle.
Regards and nice thread.
Mario

My nickname is inspired by a Japanese cartoon I watched when I was a child, named " knights of the Zodiac" (this is only a translation from the Italian title, I don't know if it's correct :rolleyes: )
