Default Crummy weather headed my way

wow. I hope it isn't like last year. I lost somewhere between twenty and thirty Phalenopsis last year with the freeze. I guess there isn't too much I can do about weather except pray that we don't have the same thing happen as we did last year. Otherwise, it will be for some more orchids!

How did you lose so many? I’m sure you didn’t leave them outside? It couldn’t have been that cold inside?...that’s a terrible death rate......

How do you define "crummy"? I've had the snowblower running nearly every day (2 tanks of gas so far) and we are barely into December. We have several feet of the white stuff on the ground right now. I say - that's crummy!

Default We have ice storm warnings...

last year, I had a digital heater in the greenhouse. We lost power for about 40 or 50 minutes, which wouldn't have been that bad, but when the heat kicked back on, it was on low. I have a remote and home thermometer and unfortunately, it got flipped to the inside setting and I did not notice it. I thought we were okay. It turned out that later, my wife looked at it and figured it out. That was a few days later!

We got hit pretty good few days back - LOTS of ice formed then we got hit again. Lots of snow on the ground now. I still can't believe we didn't loose power.

I'm hoping that storm will pass over you. Best wishes to you Greg, stay warm

Dave,
I'm glad YOU said it and not me
I'm always getting for talking

to Gregg and all of our fellow growers who must endure the brutal winter conditions.

I'd be checking the heater hour-by-hour this year if I lost that many last year! Scary!!!
