More Obamacare Fail

New York State has its own website, not the federal one that gets all the attention but it's just as bad. i tried to sign up a month ago and it totally failed, but I just got a letter in the mail a day or two ago saying it was all ready for me to apply.

Unfortunately, I'm unemployed at the moment, so I'm just trying to sign up for the free Medicaid or whatever it's called in New York. So I just put in all my information, and the website actually wants me to upload a scan of paycheck stub to prove that I'm unemployed!

How much sense does that make?

Wow. A friend of mine that's self-employed had to call in three times, because the form for signing up here in WA does not accept you being self-employed. You can select a tick box, that says you are self-employed, then it demands your employer information... ... ... and it kicks you out when you put your business address, the same as your home address...

Really? I mean... REALLY? Wow.

Let's get real folks:

We really do need "universal" health care. Folks who don't have coverage often use the ER as their primary care, and the rest of us pay for that already.

The ACA should be, in my opinion, only a "foot in the door" to get that process started. The concept is good, the execution is terrible, and the sign-up implementation is appalling. There is a lot of room for improvement, so we should quite whining and make them.

You want to make some serious improvements in our society? 1) Do something about the medical insurance industry, and 2) fire congress.
