Default Important if you have a Sam's Club membership

Last week when my order was being rung up at Sam's, the register notified us that my card is expiring at the end of December. Thankfully, the cashier didn't allow me to renew when I said "okay". He said that when you renew, the new membership starts on that date, not at the end of your existing membership! He said to wait until the day after your card expires to renew it. Being the skeptic that I am, I contacted Sam's to find out what the truth is and this is the response I received:

Thank you for contacting Sam's Club. Your start date commences on the date that you renew.

Amazing! If that cashier had listened to me saying okay, I would have lost out on over a month on my existing membership!
It's a rip-off!

Thought it was important enough to let my friends know about it,

Susanne

It's a rotten way of doing business...and I've let them know what I think about it (big surprise, huh? )

That is a DECEPTIVE corporate trap to catch older and inattentive people off guard. I know it is THEIR business, but that is just plain rotten.

Is Costco a part of Sam's Club. Oh, that is the membership part of WalMart, isn't it?

Yup, Sam's is part of Walmart but now that I know this, I would think the same goes for Costco and BJ's which are also warehouse retailers

Costco isn't part of Sam's club....I have a Costco membership and I am one of those to wait until my membership expires to renew it....I will check and see what I find out....

Hey people... heads up! Don't you read the stuff they give you (OK, force on you) about the terms? Don't sweat it! Just let it run out, then next time you go in just present your card and cashier will inform you it has run out and let you add on new membership along with your purchases. It works just fine. No sweat. Same with Costco.

Don't agree. Number one, you can't change their policy, number two, it really isn't a big deal. As I said in previous msg, just let it run out then renew when you make next purchase. You can "stick it to the master" that way, 'cause you get extra time.
