I'm a red wine person but like a beer on a hot day. Have you ever tried a couple of beers from Tasmania (state of Australia)??? They are:
Boags Premium and Cascade Premium and are two of the finest beers anywhere. I haven't tried too many small breweries but you have inspired me to try them in future (any excuse for me to drink more).

Also, I have spent time in brew pubs
Wherever the beer is the freshest, that is where it will be the best it will ever be. They also usually have good food-they want you to drink their beers.

Other things put in beer
Our American Brewers that brew mass quantities of beer have changed the way that American beer tastes. In Bud products, they use rice. In Miller products, they use corn. I don't think the Beer Gods had any intention on these products being used to brew beer. I would rather go without than to drink that stuff. Just to bring the conversation along a little bit further, I have heard that the PNW has many good microbreweries, but I also knw that Michigan, Wiscionsin and Colorado also have a pretty good amount of micros. There was a beer that was brewed in Montana as well as out on the West Coast somewhere that I first tried in South Dakota called Moose Drool. I still think it is one of the best brown ales that I have had the pleasure of drinking. Anyone from out west try this one?

Bolero
I don't think some of the smaller breweries will get beer here to the states-at least not to the central part of the country. One of the few beers that I have had here in my location that was from that neck of the woods was named Cooper's-I think that I had tried a couple of them. One was Best Stout and I don't quite recall what the other one was that I drank, but both were good. If that is any indication of what you are talking about, all I can say is YUM.

The Cascade and Boags I'm referring to is even better than the Coopers. But that's a reasonable beer.

I've had Moose Drool and like it but it's not one of my favorites. Anybody tried Dead Guy Ale? I rather like it.

Actually, I have had that.
Actually, I have had many, many different beers and I have to say that I liked so many of them that I really did not have a favorite. I even used to make my own at one time. It was cheaper and some of it was darn tasty!

The problem
with beer that is in light bottles (clear or green) is that they get "light-struck." This causes beer to have a skunky taste. Examples of this are Heineken, Corona as well as many other beers in lighter bottles. One exception to this rule that I can think of is Beck's. I guess it is because they sell alot of it. Just a personal observation from someone who used to drink alot of beer and enjoy it immensely.
