And if your tap water is treated with chloramine, instead of chlorine, you have to use a chemical dechlorinator to make it safe to use on your plants. Chloramine does not break down with exposure to oxygen like chlorine does.

My vote? Go with the rain water. It's easy, cheap and works.

Very nice. The dormancy requirements have been what has kept me away from these. Good to know some don't need it.

They don't always need to eat bugs. The bugs sort of supplement their diet of sunshine because these plants grow in nutrient poor soils. Whatever they can catch on occasion in your house is probably all they need. In fact, feeding them too much can kill them because their leaves can only close around an insect so many times before they are damaged and dropped by the plant.

You think a Ping would do well with a lot of moisture? I'm redoing my orchidarium as a paludarium type enclosure. LECA balls cover the water well and moss grows on top of that, but the water comes pretty close to the surface. Would the tropical species do well in this type of enclosure?

I am keeping mine in the pot it came in. It's planted in spaghnum moss and the pot had a clear plastic dome lid with a hole in the top. It seems to do better with the lid on, so I bet it would like a terrarium. It lost a couple of leaves when I had it sitting with the lid off, but I bet it would depend which one you tried and I have no idea what mine is, so that's not much help.

I hope you get some good replies!

Apparently mine is Pinguicula moranensis. It has been in bloom constantly since I got it in 2/2013. I want to pot it up because it is so crowded in it's little pot. What should I use as a medium?
Thanks, LeeB
