No worries. In fact, I went looking for my Yosemite pics from a few years ago and can't find them!

We have a healthy deer, skunk and mountain lion populations (and others, they just don't come to mind right now) but no grizzlies (our flag mascot).
You may have Honey Boo Boo now but we had the valley girls back in the day.

Here is my favorite California critter: Anna's Hummingbird | Flickr - Photo Sharing!. Also like that there are no mosquitos outside biting me after sunset.

I've seen a bear at a cul-de-sac to a neighborhood street when I was about to go home from my buddy's house. Prior to seeing one, he told me there were bears that would occasionally come down from the mountains to forage for food and knock over people's trash cans. I don't know what kind of bear it was, though, (and I sure didn't want to get close enough to find that out either).
I've seen small herds of deer down here a few times. They're out during the day too. Red tailed hawks are pretty common here. Possums are always around the mountainous areas as well.
Never seen a coyote before, but I know they're here.
Unless we go hiking on a regular basis, we don't see mountain lions here, they're pretty rare.
Lots of Gopher Snakes. The occasional Kingsnake pops up, although I've never personally seen one. Of course, we have our various rattlesnake species too. I think the species that would be more common here around the areas where I live would either be the Southern Pacific Rattlesnake (Crotalus oreganus helleri) or the Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes (Crotalus atrox). The "buzzers" are very seclusive and occur mostly in rocky outcrops along the hills or mountains.
When there are snakes of these sorts, there are also gophers and jackrabbits.
We also have quite a few hummingbirds flying around SoCal.

Here's another group of animals you'd never guess would be here...
Parrots. I don't know what kind, but they're here in specific communities in rather large numbers.
In one particular nearby city, I've heard them up in the trees.

I've also seen a few bears up north. Last summer actually.
My cat got eaten by a coyote a couple months ago. Learned I can chase a coyote through the wilderness, barefoot in the dark.
Caught up with him and everything. Got my cat back but his throat was crushed.
Lots of snakes and birds round here. Some deer too.
Raccoons and opossum come by.
The hummingbirds are beautiful.
The parrots are a few different species. The species vary from location to location. They aren't native though. We have lots of invasive bees too..

Parrots, I don't think they are native. At least not the ones on Telegraph Hill in SF. Those are escapees.
I don't think the Bay Area has bear sightings but we regularly have lion sightings. There are/were coyotes in GG Park and in the hills.

My area's hummingbirds don't look like GardenTheatre's picture. They are so tiny and fast, I can't track them long enough to get a good description.

No, the parrots aren't native. They most likely are escaped or released pet birds.
