How amazing those cute little delicate looking birds can fly all the way down to South America!!!
Where do they go during the summer time then?
I go to Central Park everyweek but haven't seen any of them. lol Is there any good spot where certain birds like to hang out, or do you just have to spend hours and be lucky to see so many different birds??
I find sparrows cute but I absolutely hate pigeons.
They poop everywhere! I wish there was a way to selectively get rid of them all!!!!
So Cardinals are residents here?
I have only seen them twice so far and they both happened this year. lol
I have to say they are beautiful!!!

There is a ton of Cardinals here in Queens, I'm sure they are all over Central Park.
Like I said before, if you want to see Warblers you got to go during the spring or fall migration. And early in the morning is good. They are small birds (usually smaller than the sparrows) and can be easily missed, but trust me, when the time is right, they will be oozing from the trees.
If you want to see them, hit the park in May and ask the first person you see with binoculars. Just tell them you've never seen a warbler and want to know where to see some. Most birder's are awesome people.
Best place in Central Park is the Ramble.

The first time I saw a Cardinal was in Central Park near the Boat House in early summer.
The second time, last weekend, was in Midtown west. Each time, it was just one male, but I like it of course.
Thank you for the tip!

I miss cardinals. We used to live in one of their main nesting areas in Ontario. There aren't any here, but we do get warblers of various kinds, mainly in the fall and spring, but there are a few around now.

Nice!
Is it legal to catch wild birds Cardinal and grow as pets?
Maybe I should just get a red canary, which I don't think I have seen anywhere yet.
I only see yellow and orange colored ones.

That would be very illegal, you are not supposed to own even a feather of any native bird species.
Which I suppose leaves starlings, sparrows and pigeons as fare game.

Oh, I see. lol
By the way, I read some stuff about Starlings and their negative impact on other birds and agriculture.
It sounds quite serious.
What a tough group of birds though!
Do you travel far to see certain birds?
I have a friend who used to be a birder, and he used to travel to Southern Arizona to see birds.
How many birds have you seen so far?
This is the question many birders ask, right?
and any particular birds you like?

I don't travel farther than Eastern Long Island or upstate NY to see birds, but ofcourse if I happen to be traveling anyway, then I usually pack my binoculars.
My favourite bird is the Scarlet Tanager. Makes cardinals look brown.

This year I have seen 230 different species of birds in NY and 249 in NY in my entire life (only been birding 3 years). My world wide list is 378.
