Thumbs down US Airways - The Greyhound Bus of the Air

I will never fly any regional US Airways flight again.

Not only did they tell me that my one carry on was not allowed because it had wheels (even though it was small enough to fit in the overhead AND under the seat), they didn't bother to tell me this until I boarded.

It was not mentioned on the website when I booked, nor by the crew when I checked in my other big bag, or at the gate announcement for loading.

The flight attendant was rude about it when I questioned her. I advised her that the bag contained expensive fragile orchids. Also, the flight was clearly not full and I demonstrated that the bag fit under the seat. My other bag was a backpack that would easily fit in the overhead.

She made me unpack the orchids and gate check the bag.

THEN upon arrival, I asked her if they would retrieve my bag so I could re-pack the orchids. She with her rude attitude informed me that she couldn't leave the plane with passengers on board. She said that I can go wait in line and get my bag then come back onto the plane and re-pack.

REALLY?! Never again. The worst customer service.

When I finally finished and de-planed, she gave me the half-hearted 'have a good evening.' I just said, "US Airways, the Greyhound Bus of the air" And I seriously hope she heard me.

1) DO NOT insult Greyhound like that ever again.

2) Be glad you don't live near Philly, where Useless Air is the main airline.

3) Call USAir with the flight details and complain bitterly. There are no rules that refer to wheels as a carry-on criterion. (USAir Baggage Policies). You deserve at least an apology, if not a free ticket that you may not want.

I stand corrected on Greyhound...though they aren't very good down here.

I submitted a complaint through their online complaint email...I'm sure it will be tossed in the garbage.
