Sometimes I really think I am a klutz in the greenhouse... I was fixing the stem of this beautiful Cattleya warscewiczii to the stake, a plant that I was carefully growing for the last three years, and what my clumsy hands did? The photo explains it all! Four of the five blooms ended up in my hands! I am really mad at me!!! How could I do that? The flowers didn’t even have the chance to properly open… What a shame!

Agh!! I hate when that happens, and not just with orchids! All those months of waiting and waiting, all for nothing! And it always happens with the plants I'm most careful with... It's really a shame it had to happen, it really is a gorgeous plant. You could always put the blooms in water to try to enjoy them a bit longer.

Camille, I put them in the water with a little bit of fertilizer. They continue to open, so I guess I'm gonna enjoy them for a while, though not long I guess. Better than nothing!
A number of us have done the same thing while "fixing" the 'chids
It feels just as bad whether you have 1, 300 or 5000 chids...still stinks!
Susanne, my wife says I should every time before handling my orchids! When I get in the house with some flowers in my hands she just says: 'Again?'
As you say, no matter how many you have... it really stinks when it happens!
