A little more about Dr. Robinson,
and a link to a video of his lecture. Weng, what he says is convincing, but at the end it becomes a very paranoid interview. I agree though, whether all this climate change is caused by nature or man is still up in the air. However I still believe we are not helping the situation and because of the modern state of human society we will feel the effects of global warming much more than we did 1000 years ago. A whole lot more people will be dieing this time around.

Well I had no control over the hour, but the date is supposed, according to legend, to be the day the world ends. I figured we should by semi aware, kinda of suspicious of eminent doom by then.

And we thought biofeuls would be best.
Bio fuels from corn actually have a higher environmental impact that low sulfur diesel!!
WHAT CAN WE DO??

As a staunch global warming critic, I found this article very interesting. I especially like when Dr Robinson said, "Science is about natural truth. The truth doesn’t require any advocate. It stands by itself." Which is so true! If global warming were really an actual problem, scientists would be able to agree that its happening and there would be no need for people like Al Gore and Sheryl Crow (aka today's scientific experts) to promote their "cause." Im not saying that global warming is not possible, just that there is absolutely no consensus from people who know what they are talking about (ie. climatologists and scientists, not musicians and politicians!!). Ive also heard many times about that UN report that came out with the signatures of hundreds of scientists, many of whom wanted their signatures taken off the docutment because they dissagreed with the final product!! The UN shrugged their shoulders and told the dissenting scientists (there were a lot!) to take a hike. To me, the green movement is a must. We must stop polluting the earth, we must stop treating the earth like a wastbasket, but we must do so for the right reasons!! We know for a fact that forests are being destroyed, that species are going extinct and that fisheries are being depleted, but for some reason all these things that are absolute facts are taking a back seat to some theory that may or may not be causing some glaciers to melt!! Im sorry but a few melting glaciers do not concern me nearly as much lost rainforests and extinct species. Just my , maybe a few more

Ahh, but global warming is so much more than a few melting glaciers. Its an increase in diseases like malaria, loss of biodiversity, its a ...why bother saving the forest if its gonna become a dessert...issue, and loss of potable drinking water (have you any idea how many people depend on glaciers as a source of drinking water?), loss of food crop due to loss of water and adequate habitat, increase in pests, and who knows what else we cannot yet foresee.
I agree Steve, we should put things like reducing pollution, and stopping the destruction of the forests first, and stop over fishing, first. If we can't solve these problems, then what hope have we in the face of global warming (regardless of whether it be caused by man or nature).

One thing I've come to realize since starting this thread is that it doesn't really matter any more what is causing global warming. If it happens (and I see it happening now, every day, every year, you can't deny it!) then we will suffer. I get the feeling that many of the people who have taken the time to read this thread and the articles I've posted think that by proving man innocent of global warming makes everything ok. OK, lets say we are innocent, and we can't make a dent on the earths climate. And its all the sun doing its thing heating us up. The end result is the same, most of the worlds major cities will be underwater etc....

Very good point, Tin! And I think what you just expressed is the main point of concern for me. We can and should focus on things that we can directly influence - like the amount of finite resources we consume, how much landfill we generate, etc. Those are things that each and every person can directly change. Maybe global climate change is just too big?? And if it is too big for us to directly influence, then we'd better start preparing for the continued and worsening changes in weather patterns, the continued and worsening rise of sea levels, and all of the other things that go along with major climate change.
