'Seeing' it visually really helped me. The shocker, for me, was the satellite photo of 'Urban Growth'... that photo comparing Las Vegas in 1973 and then in 2000 was amazing. And just think about the resources it takes to sustain a city like that in the middle of the desert!!
The info in the report on population increases was also quite informative. |
An interesting news item I came across... (requires RealPlayer or Windows Media Player)
BBC News Player - UK's climate 'changing' |
Very informative! I've also heard that captive poison dart frogs (neotropical species) that have escaped into UK gardens are surviving the winters there.
|
I've not heard about the poison dart frogs... but I do know that slugs and snail which used to die off over the winter are now overwintering and growing into giants!
Temps here don't often get below freezing, most times it stays well above that. Like this weekend, the overnight low will be around 8C or 10C (46-50F). (Daytime high aren't much higher! But the lows aren't really low.) |

No, not a word was uttered in the US. The US coverage, at least on the tv and radio, of global warming and the conferences at Bali have been zilch, nill, zero, none. They want to keep us ignorant so we can't see the forest for the trees.
I wish more people on the board would join the thread. So I am moving it to the lounge. |
Some sad news from some of the latest victims of global warming.
