What to do with baby bird? Male
Default What to do with baby bird?

Ok... so I found my cats playing with something in the yard.
Normally when I find them playing with something it's already dead or saveable.

Today it was a baby bird.
I think the high winds we've been having knocked It out of the nest.
And my cats found it struggling on the ground.
I've never found a bird this young.
It has no feathers, can't hold up its head or move really, and its eyes aren't opened.

What do I do with it?
Can I save it?
I sort of feel terrible that my cats got to it...

I can't find the nest. I've been searching for 3 hours now....
I've got about 6 trees in the immediate area and they all go up a good 40 - 60 feet.

Hmm... I'll try the nest thing....
I can hear some angry birds in one particular tree... I haven't found the nest yet but maybe if I stick it in that tree

Do you have a wildlife rescue organization near you?
If so, that would be the best course of action.

Unfortunately the baby bird spasmed, coughed up a bunch of blood, and died.
