I've eaten mealworms and ants. Mealworms are actually quite delicious and live ants nice and sour.

I have had aligator, kangaroo, ostrich, moose, and bison that I can think of offhand. My grandma says I tried elk and bear when I was a kid, but I don't remember it, so I don't know that it counts. I was going to try crickets once, but I wussed out when my friend tried one first and described the texture to me.
Aside from meats, my sister and I used to love going to this awesome little Asian grocery and buying random stuff simply because it was totally unfamiliar to us. We found some neat stuff that way, though not all of it was to our tastes. Two of the weirder ones that come to mind were both beverages, a bird's nest fungus drink and a grass jelly drink. Both of them are pretty much exactly what they sound like. I couldn't get down more than a sip of the bird's nest one, but strangely the grass jelly tasted great except it had chunks of jelly and I am one of those weirdoes that doesn't even like pulpy OJ.

I was told I ate whale and either crickets or grasshoppers or something like that in Japan. The insects were braised in soy sauce based seasoning, served as rice topping, couldn't tell the flavor. I didn't notice initially but they were recognizable when I actually picked one up and looked.

Oh, a tangue. Once again, I was told I was eating that. It is a hedgehog type critter on Isle de la Reunion.

Butterfly Muse, this thread is taking off, isn't it? lol
Very interesting so far.
Some of the unusual things I've eaten include rabbit, pheasant, buffalo (ok, this one might be common)...smoked whale meat in Norway couple of years ago( it was very good as someone already mentioned earlier), grass hoppers and some other insects roasted in South Korea (sort of like fried shrimp I'd say?) , live octopus here in NYC (don't want to try again to say the least lol), shark and stingray here and they are really really good with the right sauce!

Jellyfish! Once again in Japan as rice topping.
To be honest, I try not to know what I'm eating when traveling.

Lol...
I normally don't ask until I've tried it.
On a side note jellyfish is widely available in my area.

Hah... I would venture a guess and say you're right.
Simply because I love jellyfish and seaweed salad.

Funny how what seems unusual in one country is totally normal in another hey! Not much chance of me eating reindeer or mountain lion over here but I love a kangaroo steak or roast and it is cheaper for me to buy that than chicken so I have it often, sometimes a couple of times a week. A local butcher also sells crocodile, emu, goat, water buffalo and possum amongst others. So far I've only had crocodile and goat.
