Default Amaryllis Dancing Queen

This is the second bloom. I see a third scape emerging from the bulb.
Two of the four flowers are vey full as this variety is supposed to look like.

It's such a cheerfully coloerd flower.
Get up and dance!

Enjoy~

I actually never was attracted to this variety.
but then one fine day at a local farmer's market, I found one of many potted amaryllis that looked so healthy and nice that I just ended up getting it even after seeing the tag saying Dancing Queen (and I knew exactly how the flowers look)

Two weeks past and the first scape gave me the show.
I was disappointed at how all four flowers were fully formed. This time around, at least two of the four flowers are fully formed.

I guess it's unstability of genes or some other stress causing this? or I just have a "deformed" hybrid.

Other than that, flowers look very cheerful with the coloration and the overal shape.
and it's even scented!

Oh, and I really like the flower presentation on the scape. All are facing slightly upward making a full bouquet. Many amaryllis tend to droop, especailly really big ones or double types.

How does yours and its hybrids (have you bloomed any of hybrids you made using Dancing Queen?) perform?
Do you have pictures?

curious...

To me, this is a great example of pictures not doing real thing its justice.

I never really liked the online images of this one, but I like it a lot in person.

I don't have any pics in an post at the moment. DQ has messy petals...they're not the classically shaped, regal flowers.

I crossed DQ with exotica, DQ being the pollen donor, and the flower produced a doubled bloom with the look and color of exotica but cleaner petals. I only got two blooms but that's typical of a first bloom.

DQ has two varieties...one is pretty orange the other deep pink or red. I like the red one for the color but the orange for its shape...i bred the orange because exotica has such an orange color already....and green and link and everything in between!!

I didn't know DQ had two different main colors.

Online pictures always show somewhat orange.

Mine, although I look at it everyday, I can't tell what it is. Salmon is the closest I can think of. what would you say? red or orange?

By the way, the online pictures always show DQ with nicely formed full flowers. Mine isn't. well, at least the two I got this time.
I still have one more scape coming and I am curious to see what the flower forms will be like.

Outstanding cultivar. Beautifully grown, too.
