feeding a baby froglet?
Default feeding a baby froglet?

I have a little dilemma, I have here what are often called 'banana box frogs' in Australia as they hitch rides in boxes of banabas from up north but I think it came off one of the bags of grain I buy for my birds/poultry. I can't just let it go in the wild here as there are laws against moving frogs due to a fungal infection that has decimated populations. As well as that I believe it's a tropical species so would die here. I am happy to just put it in a little tank for now(even though I am not really supposed to do that either) and then when I have my indoor courtyard which will be warmer it can live in there and essentially be wild but in a fairly contained situation if that makes sense.

Thing is it's tiny. not even half an inch long yet and I'm not exactly sure what I can easily feed it. I grow meal worms for my lizards, if I was to dig and find the really tiny ones would they be ok? Any other reccs? Once my terrarium is set up for my orchids I thought I might just pop him in there until he can go free.

If its that small, he will probably choke on the mealworms or just ignore them. Try putting a piece of fragrant fruit in a container with him and let the gnats and fruit flies come in naturally. He should eat those.

If fruit flies are too big, you need to give them spring tails. The little white bugs that jump when you blow on them, you see them in your potted plants. I don't know about Australia but here in the States there are companies that sell them.
Maybe you can try running a net through a meadow in your area and dumping the tiny bugs with the frogs.

I don't think we have dart frogs here, or meadows for that matter LOL I'll run a net over the long grass in the yard and we do get fruit flies in the house so I'll put a little bit of nectarine in there to tempt them in.
