It's Amaryllis time again!!!

If I lived in a mild climate, I would grow tons of them outside!

Yeah, I like papilio as well. They look so different. I find them hard to find. so I don't have that one yet. I just drool over internet images for now.

Many Amaryllis sold at big box store in US are mislabelbed. I tried a few online vendors and found one good source.
I usually get mine from a local farmer's market though. There is this cut flower guy who brings wonderful lilies, tulips, hyacinths all year around, and in the late fall or late winter (depending on the weather), he will bring potted&named Amaryllis.
His bulbs are the best quality and lots of different varieties to choose from. They are already potted, in bud, and cheaper than online, so I buy from him a lot.

I love these plants so I buy lots. and although they are all super healthy, I just discard them as they take up so much space with large leaves all over the place.
I am going to keep these guys though. so I will now have 6!
I dumped one cattleya today (persistent scale issue), so one more Amaryllis to fit in. Yay!!!

Your supposedly papilio turned out white is a real bummer! it's a world of difference!

The posts are old though.

I love these plants too! I just wish I had a large space to grow more. There are so many I want to have!
but for now, I just buy, enjoy blooms and toss.

Sometimes they can bloom spring and again in the fall.

I personally love double white. Alfresco is my favorite. They always make three stalks and each stalk will have 4-6 flowers.
Similar ones are Ice Queen, Snow (or white) Nymph, White Peacock (scented). There are others but those are the ones I had before and love them all! wish I had kept them all. oh, well...

Super!

Certain hybrids, usually the ones made for cut flower trade, make lots of stalks. Of course the bulb should be grown as big as possible to do that.
