I just had one that was supposed to be raspberry red bloom and it is white & pink. So mislabeling seems to be a problem. I have a Papillio and it blooms every year for me, but it is a slow grower. It also blooms on its own timetable, so I've stopped trying to force it to bloom at Christmas. I've had good luck buying from Amaryllis, Large Amaryllis Bulbs, Indoor Flowering Amaryllis Bulbs, Double Flowering. I see they have Papillio listed for about $15.

Seeing all those wonderful blooms makes me want to get some. And I'm in the right country for bulbs. The place in Amsterdam where I order bulbs from usually has a bunch of 'Hippies'. Now which to pick?? lol All Amaryllisses

I'm thinking Ambiance, Apple Blossom and Flamenco Queen and Temptation... No papilio though!!

Can you visit Royal Colors? They are out of your country, at least they were a year or so ago. I got many of mine from them. They produce some of the most stately blooms I've ever grown from hippies.

Gervase.... One of the more impressive bloomers.. Sometimes six blooms to a scape and blooms multiple scapes on the same bulb... Moderate pup growth which bloom much earlier than most pups... Horrible to breed with... It simply won't accept pollen nor give viable pollen to a receiver.

Names on the photo...

I have hybridized a few of these... Including exotica x dancing queen... Should yield a double to semi double flower with orange, green and red lace on a pale pink or orange background. Still a few years from blooming. But I have hmm.... 200+ seedlings! Lol.

Unless you buy directly from grower, which is usually not possible, mislabeling can be encountered. Not for me so far though! hehe
Some US growers are out there, but for the most part, these bulbs are brought in from Holland, and sometimes South Africa and Israel and Brazil. They get bulbs mixed up while sorting them out and storing and packaging. Go figure!

Papillio is not supposed to be forced! Let it grow all year around and do its thing.

Easy to grow bulbs company is a good place to shop for bulbs.
I love their lovely bells and beauty bells. names rhyme!
I wonder if their snow drift is the same variety as alfresco, which is my favorite double white. At least the picture looks aweful lot like Alfresco.

I recommend Blossom Peacock. I had one before and the picture does not do justice at all!!!!
