Today, I visited the grand gardens and art collections for a second time. If you don't know what the Huntington is, its a large botanical garden with an enourmous library and a huge art gallery. The founder and owner, Henry E. Huntington was especially intrested in rare books, art, and flowers. The 120 acre area is so extraordinary that I only got through half of the area! It holds some of the rarest books in the entire world and some of the best art there is to date. I will have to split my visit into a few parts. Here are pictures with descriptions:
A ginko tree against a crystal clear sky.
This is a tidier hybrid of the Giant Bamboo. It doesn't ramble as much and has the exact same properties as normal Giant Bamboo, making it perfect for a large garden.
Believe it or not, this is actually an aloe species, not a tree.
A qick front view of the palm gardens.
This is the famous library. It was off limits due to renovation.
The European art galleries.
The Shakesphere Gardens, containing the plants found in his literature.
A cute little mornarch caterpillar.
I saw this odd iris and decided to take a picture of it. Does anyone know this variety?
My absolute favorite part of the gardens, the greenhouse.
