I was doing some gardening and came across the two of them and thought you don't see that everyday.

wow - and the female has already eaten the head off the male !!!! Unique photo, really special.
I got a couple of egg-cases off the internet a few years ago and now have mantis every year.

I once had a mantis hitch a ride on my Vanda and became my roomate; for room and board it cleaned all my plants

*scary sight when the headless male still continue with the task at hand....

Way cool. My mother tells the story of one of us bringing a mantis nest into the house, where is preceded to hatch in the warmth. You can image the infestation of an insect that you're not supposed to harm
