Without power here for more than a day. Running on generator power for the essentials only. Just got Internet back but have no idea how long it will be before the power is back on. Alot of trees and power lines down but the flooding was the worst.
Here's a pic taken 2 hours before High tide last nite. Those are garages on the left and the water was running directly from the beach right in front on the people standing at the cross street. I didn't stick around for the worst. This is the street were I used to live. Now live 2 streets over and water was half way up my street at high tide. Too close for comfort. No one was allowed back here today except for news crews.

Please say a prayer for these people and everyone everywhere like them

Judi

Hi everyone on OB. Happy to report that our family is safe and no worse for the wear. We got our power back late last evening thanks to crews from all over the US coming in to help O and R! Our home went unscathed, but the winds were the worst I have ever experienced. We have one tree down in our front yard. My father's farm around the corner sustained heavy damage from the winds: the metal roofs were just peeled back like lids from pop top cans. Today, we will clean up and entertain family, friends, and neighbors who are still out of power.

On an orchid note: just before it all went dark I was admiring my first phal spike of the season...a little one inch guy at the base of an orchid rescued from the nursing home where my sister works. A bit of hope to cling to through a very scary time.

Hope to hear good news from all the others in the storm's path very soon.
