Default photo question- suggestions please

I hope this is ok to post. If not mods, feel free to take it down.

I'm thinking of entering a photo contest, and I found it very late, so I need to do this quickly as it ends very soon. I want to kind of set myself apart from others so I'm thinking of doing a theme of death in the garden. I've gotten lots of responses about these photos, but I'm not sure they're good enough for a contest.

Here is the link to my blog where I put the ones I like the best asking people to pick 4 they like. It's a couple posts down. I am putting the main page here Kristin Troost Hall Photography so people can look through and see the other photos I do to compare.

Also here is my pbase page it has almost all my recent work. If you think something there is better please by all means let me know. My subject is gardens so keep that in mind. It can be people in the garden, but I don't want to mess with releases.

I need all the help I can get, as I'm a horrible judge of my photos. They are mostly "from the hip" and snapshots, I don't think I'm really all that good. I just REALLY love doing it!

Edit to add:

I put a new link in the post below. I've narrowed stuff down a bit. I plan on entering it tomorrow or the end of the week the latest. I think it ends on the 15th.

For more info see the post below too, not just for the link.

Thank you all!!!!

Cool!

I like the last three very much, but then I can't decide amongst the others for the fourth ...

OK, I've had suggestions to vary it more, so I'm changing which photos I'm thinking about. Here is the new post. Let me know in the comments on the blog, or here or here in a PM. Don't pay attention to the two moths or the fairies, while all fun photos that I like, bugs/animals are in a different category. So I don't want to disqualify myself!

Kristin Troost Hall Photography: Photo Contest- I Need Your Help!!!

Thanks so much everyone! I'm really hoping not to win, but to get something like an honorable mention! Plus with the fee to get in, the judges will tell you how to improve your photography!

And remember it's not just what the plant is, it's the quality of the photos more so, also showing a fun study of the flower/plant.

I like number 2 and number 11, the standard flower close ups like the passionflower, the paph and the others down lower are beautiful but kind of 'been there done that' for me if you know what I mean because everyone takes flower close ups. I like number 2 because as well as being a gorgeous shot it had me sitting here trying to puzzle out exactly what it was. I just like the colours in 11, the way the blue in the background enhances the colour in the flower.

Is it too late to bump this post up? I hope not! I just got a response/feedback e-mail from the contest. Obviously I didn't win or I would have posted that a couple months ago. But here is the feedback!

"Your yellow tomatoes were shortlisted - well done. You have some very imaginative images - well executed. You could maybe have got a better shot of the apricots- you seem to be hovering midway between close up and wide shot. A wider shot would maybe have given us more context - a closer shot would have given us a better feel for the luscious fruit. Indecision! A couple of your shots are in landscape - horizontal - format where they might have worked better as a portrait format. Plants grow vertically and are often more easily composed this way around. But a very nice entry overall- well done"

I'm so excited to here one of them was shortlisted!!!! That makes me more excited then I can say! I plan on entering again this year. I'm already working on taking a lot of photos! I'll post again with my next set to get more input from everyone! To all who helped thanks!!! Of course at the very last second I added a couple other photos I don't have in this blog post. I can link to those if anyone wants to see.
