So I'm in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos for work, and today I got off before dark and got to wander in the bushes a bit. I was looking for some Tolumnia, Ionopsis or Encyclia. I'm not sure about the first two, I'm just assuming they're here. But I do know there are at least a couple of Encyclia species here. Anyway, I didn't find any orchids but I did find 3 species of Tillandsia on the same little tree. All 3 of these can be found in South Florida, a reminder that I am not so far from home.

I believe this one is a young Tillandsia utriculata (Giant Airplant) because of the very large stump left from a dead Tillandsia that I saw in this tree. It could also be Tillandsia fasciculata. I'm not sure what the difference is when they are young. Any input would be nice.

Tillandsia paucifolia (Potbelly Airplant)

Tillandsia flexuosa (Twisted Airplant)

Very nice. When I went I was too young and was not into botany yet. Wish I could go back. It was, at the time (early 2000's) a pretty virgin Island. Can't imagine its hard to find some native plants.
