I've been a casual birder for 40 years but have taken it more seriously in the last 3-4 years. I've had the good fortune to travel to a lot of interesting places- Sweden, Peru, Trinidad, and my favorite, Costa Rica. Tindo, I am very impressed by your shots especially as you are a relative beginner. And Ron your shots of birds and orchids are amazing.
Here are a few of mine, first batch from a "Snow Day" when we were stuck in Miami and went to the Everglades; second batch from Costa Rica.
1- Anhinga resting
2- Cormorant with a fish
3- Catfish spines in cormorants mouth
4-Purple Gallinule
5- Black Vulture portrait

Went inside for a few minutes, and when I came back out, the plants I'd watered were swarming with tiny warblers and finches, drinking the droplets and taking baths among the leaves. It was amazing, there were about 20 or so in a very small area. I tried to take a photo- but they were just too fast. Among the birds I saw- Palm warblers, Carolina Wrens, Gray Catbird, black and white Warbler (I think), a Gnatcatcher, tufted Titmouse and some sort of Vireo. Glad I helped them out- but makes me sad when I think of the drought and how it affects our feathered friends." We currently have a pair of Barred Owls in our back yard, and after 7 years, I finally have seen their babies and got some very quick shots of the 2 fledglings. This is a photo shot mid day, way up in the tree canopy of our back yard of the two fledglings. I have a bunch of photos of their parents from the last 7 years- but these are the first babies (well, teenagers) I have managed to see, much less photograph.
