How can I keep things away from me peas?? I had no problems last year, but this year I find less and less pea plants each day and rabbit tracks in my garden.
((There's also a lot of ants, would they eat the plants?))
I have some fencing, but no time any time soon to put it up. Any ideas???
We had a pet bunny for nine years who roamed freely when we were outside and we usually have a bunny nest in our garden. They usually prefer dandilions and clover to anything in the garden but any spray made with hot peppers would probably be effective. I mix bitter herbs (rue, artemisia, tansy, feverfew) in with the vegetables and maybe that also has discouraged garden nibbling.
I haven't tried this myself, but I have heard that if you know someone with a cat or have one yourself, you can take some cat droppings and put them near your garden and it will keep "prey" wildlife away. *note: don't put it close to any plants producing crops you will eat.
Pepper spray works well but must be reapplied after a rain. I have also heard that if you go to a barber shop and get some of the hair and sprinkle that around the plants it will work.
