Default A new lizard in the neighborhood!

Found this little guy in my large Donkey Ears plant this morning...the blue tail caught my eye! He's the first of this type that I've seen here.

Weee what a cutie!!!
"Lizards are known to symbolize divine wisdom and good fortune, in ancient Egypt and Greece. In Roman mythology, lizards supposedly sleep through the winter and so symbolize both death and resurrection. Early Christianity associated the lizard with the devil and with evil. While on the Pacific islands of Polynesia and Maoris lizards are revered as a "heaven god." - Reptiles in Mythology/Viewzone
The lizard also represents "Detachment from Ego, Power to Regenerate That Which is Lost, Facing Fear, Controlling Dreams, Moving in the Otherworld, Conservation, Agility." - Onespirit

He's a welcome guest!

Wow--I've never seen one of those either.

We have alot of different kinds, but never seen that one. We have bright green ones and then the regular brown with either stripes or spots. This year, though, I have seen some that almost look like minature dinosaurs! I'll try to get a picture of one of those.

Dorothy, you are a wealth of information! Lizards--who knew!!

Wow! That is an interesting tail color. I have never seen a lizard like that before. Only lizards I saw were the plain orange colored ones when I was in Miami. Maybe this is a new species of lizard or a variation of another lizard. It is a fine lizard especially if you have a tropical-themed yard.

We're just about in the same area so I know which ones you're talking about...the ones that look like little dragons are way cool
There's one that hangs out on my kitchen windowsill all the time...we've named him Roscoe

What a cool looking zard. Now I feel bad about all my lizard bashing. Guess you can take the girl out of Chicago but not the Chicago out of the girl. Don't like them in the house..........
