Off Topic-totally duuuuuuuuuuud Best orchid !
OK. I couldn't find anywhere to post this.
When you hear or read the word "Orchid", what vision comes into your brain ?
Is it a Kmart Phal ? A Hawaii necklace of generic Dendrobiums ?
A giant Cattleya hybrid ? Masdevallia ? Lady slipper ?
A tootheless redneck stumbling out of the everglades with a duffel bag ?
EDIT
What is your favorite orchid ? Only ONE

Ascocentrum miniatum. Not what I think of when I hear "orchid", but it is my favorite.

thats hard!! i dont know what i think of first, lol!
and picking a favorite, now thats even harder! its like picking a favorite child! you have a favorite, but it changes every day!
ps. this is coming from a teenager, not somebody who is a parent who plays favorite :P
i think of probably this
or a phalaenopsis shcilleriana, or phillipinense, a huge mounted sxpecimen with flowers cascading down.

Before I knew much about orchids, I only knew cattleyas. Now, when I think of them, I think of the general distinctive attributes of the more common orchids. My favorite orchid is the Angraecum magdalenae. If I could only keep one, that would be it. I love the graceful leaves, the complete ease of growing it, and, of course, the blooms.

Paph. fairrieanum, and they are hard for me to grow. I have killed several, but there's always one in my greenhouse.

To me, the first thing to pops into my mind when they say orchid is Cattleya trianae.
