Wow! Impressive collection. I am trying to grow Nephentes but still have very low success rate. What is your secret?

No secret...just good culture. Some are easier to grow than others, being able to tolerate low humidity and a wide range of temperatures. Others are far more exacting in their needs.

However...a few good tips are to use rainwater or Reverse osmosis water only...poor quality or hard water aren't tolerated well. As far as soil goes, it depends greatly on the humidity and temperature, but a fairly good mix for mant Nepenthes is a 2:1:1: mix of bark, sphagnum moss, and sponge rock. Also...most need good light...similar to the needs of most cattleyas..not full sun all day...but lots of light. However..some of the warmer growing species native to lowlands prefer Phalenopsis type lighting. Humidity above 65% is VERY helpful...but some can withstand down to 30% without too many problems. water levels needed vary...but the goal is soil that is always wet..but well drained...never waterlogged and Anoxic.

So all in all..with the right plant and conditions, anyone can grow these.

I've researched growing these a little before, but I'm waiting until I live in one place for more than a year so I can be sure to provide the right conditions. Any recommendations for good beginner plants? Especially ones that are tolerant of humidity in the lower range.

Let's see... N.maxima, N.ventricosa, N.truncata, N.albomarginata, N.sanguinea, N.alata, N.smilesii, N.clipeata, N.khasiana, N.spathulata, and hybrids between any of these. All of them are easy and will grow and even pitcher in humidity around the 35% range, although they certainly like it higher if given the choice. All of them can be grown between the range of 60-85F, although Khasiana and spathulata can also be grown as cool growers with great results.
