Default Clerodendrum X speciosum 'Bleeding Heart'

I'm not a gardener. That's the name on the tag, correct me if needed. Was a gift of a division when I exclaimed how beautiful it was !

Very nice. I am rather surprised that it is blooming indoors. Generally fairly high light plants, I thought.

Nice one!!

I have this Clerodendron thomsoniae which I bought from the New York Botanical Gardens shop in 2008. It blooms for me occasionally. I keep it indoors (my apartment). Lots of eastern exposure, but nothing to brag about really. I find the limiting factor is water. I water really really heavily, and if I go more than 2 days without watering it, it wilts. I often leave the saucer the pot is on full of water. It has bloomed for me about 3 times. Usually afte I trim it.

I've never seen a bleeding heart plant like that before - beautiful!

@Tindomul - I find if my potted plants inside require constant watering and wilt very quickly it's because they'd like a bigger pot. I've found this several times when people have given me those supposedly 'miniature' roses. As soon as I pot them into something bigger they grow like mad and stop wilting.

The wilting is how I know when to water it !! It perks right back up !! I don't remember this from last year but the white parts turn reddish pink after dropping the bright red thingies ! Can you tell I'm not at all familiar with anything but chids ???

Hi Merlyn,
White parts at the sepals the red parts are the petals. I'm pretty sure the sepals on my plant also turn a lavendar pinkish after the petals have fallen off.

I'm not shy about watering my plant, I usually leave the dish its in full of water, never had any rot problems.

It is a joyful flower to have...if you managed to bloom this plant, you are a gardener.
I am scared I would kill those kind of plants...they look so delicate(Tindo you have a lush shrub that is getting big)
