Default Houseplants and school greenhouse

Just some shots of a couple houseplants in bloom or near blooming. Also, lots of pics of the conservatory I manage at my university. I also have shots of the small orchid collection that I've established for the conservatory, which will be in another post.

My own plants, in order: Cryptanthus Ruby Port, Billbergia nutans (one of my favorite plants), Amaryllis Red Lion? (Don't remember), and Hoya multiflora (another favorite)

Conservatory plants: Cordyline fruticosa red form (Red Ti Plant), Nematanthus sp. (guppy flower), and Aeschynanthus 'Mona Lisa'. There are lots more. I'll have to remember to take some pictures on Monday.

Oh wow, I love your bromiliads! Also love your Hoya. Such a sleek design to the flowers.

Thanks Sonya and Tindo.

The Billbergia is surprisingly easy to flower. I have about a dozen tillandsias and have never been able to rebloom them, but the billbergia blooms faithfully every December. Hopefully I can get more flowers per blooming when I can rescue it from my parents uncertain care permanently. Hoya multiflora is one of my absolute favorite plants, even though it doesn't have a scent which is unusual for hoyas. I love the shape of the flowers, like shooting stars, and it grows as a shrub rather than a vine, making it much more compact. As soon as one flower cluster fades, the next is close behind!

Greats plants! The Hoya is very unusual looking, I don't think I've ever seen one with blooms of that shape.
I used to have several non orchids, but they became the victims of my expanding orchid collection. I regret it now, I had some nice looking plants that I killed from neglect.

I just got a Red Ti Plant. Here we call it 'red bamoo' though it is not a true bamboo.
Red bamboo seldom blooms here in my area.

Thanks Camille! My non-orchid collection nearly disappeared, but I am too much of a general plant nut to only grow orchids. As diverse as orchids are, I still want more.

Pheli, I think this is the first time that plant has bloomed in the conservatory. They don't bloom very often hear either.

I'm rebuilding my non orchid collection. I got a really nice Calathea lancifolia a few weeks ago, and I want to replace my long dead Calathea crocata. And get a Hoya.

Default Update :)

Not much new with my own plants, but the conservatory is full of blooms!

First picture is an update on my amaryllis, buds are expanding and coloring up.

Next is an old standard Spathyphyllum, or peace lily, but this particular plant has a pleasant spicy-vanilla fragrance, unlike the other two varieties in the collection.

Anthurium 'Alabama'. Second picture shows small fruits forming on the spadix.

Two rhizomatous begonias, sorry, don't have the names.

Cyperus alternifolius has intricate blooms.

Euphorbia milii
