How many times has the world been predicted to end on a certain date? Way too many times where nothing has happened. I won't be holding my breath. I will be spending the holidays with my family and taking care of my orchids. 12/21/12 is my Grandpa's birthday so I will be celebrating with him.
I think the world will end someday who knows when but I don't think it will be peaceful. Look at the paranoia that this 2012 thing has caused! It will be complete chaos or it will happen so fast no one will have time to panic. If the world ends we will all be gone anyway so live your life, enjoy everything you can, and don't worry about something that nobody knows when will happen or we can control in the first place.

I concur... Enjoy the time you have while it exists, and let the future be what it will be... You can't change it or correct it, so enjoy what you do have in the limited time you have, whatever the length may be!

Actually their calendar was more accurate than the Julian calendar we use, so they didn't need to account for leap years.
At any rate, the Maya never recorded anything about the world ending when the calendar ends. That is strictly fiction that some idiot from our time cooked up.
Can you imagine what it's going to be like at Chichen Itza on 12/21/12? Schnikies Batman!

Glad to read the replies in this thread. According to our religious thoughts the planet will last until year 5000 without any harm.
Our Lord Buddha could think or predict that before so called Mayans theory.
Acually mayan story is something cooked by mistake.
