There are lots of colors and blends of colors and in your zone you can leave them in the ground over winter (however they may die back). They are a true tropical lily and I have grown them many years here in pots, but it's a pain for me 'cause I have to remove the tubers from pot, store them in basement and hope they live, etc. I finally gave up. One only has to get as far south in Michigan as Detroit to get yearly performance. They are spectacular plants, form great hedges, and I would say go for it! Be sure to check out all the colors as there are some really exotic blends.
Culture is, they prefer light soil (peat blend - not heavy clay.) Water and fertilize like a Cattleya (when they need it and plenty). If you get frost where you are, then cover the bed after the killing frost with hay or leaves or something to keep ground from heaving.
Oh, I forgot to add, don't buy lots 'cause these guys spread! Takes a few years, but with diging and reseting tuber sections, you can multiply your collection quickly.
