ok this spring the honey bees decided I need to start back into beekeeping in a major way so here are a few pictures of the last colony of bees I collected....

They are enclosed in a box for winter but on the limb in a natural state just like they built it ....hope you enjoy the pics

Very interesting to see! My nephew (only 13 yrs old now) started bee keeping 4 years ago and has quite a little business established selling honey!

Are they not flying around because it is cold? Although you are not dressed warmly so maybe not? I would want protection even tho I know honey bees are not intentionally nasty like wasps are.

It was not cold they were simply very gentle bees and I am actually very lucky and one of the people that bees just dont seem to care what I do and almost never sting me.Not that I have not met a few realy mean bee colonies lol in fact one colony this summer was extreamly mean and chased me off several times even with the bee veil and suit on.I ended up building a box on the side of the wall they are in and am waiting for them to move into it so I can work them instead of trying to cut them out.

Hay John! I love that you're doing this, I think its wonderful. No bee stings are fun for sure -- I've had my share.
I still have love & respect for these creatures.
I love my mason bee's, Very cute and very busy

Thanks for being a bee farmer & giving them a place to live. I hope their long term collective colony health is great. I love my honey, I am jealous.
