Orchids are in need of votes folks!
PATSP (blog "Plants are the Strangest People") is doing a houseplant showdown to determine who is the favorite -- and Phalanopsis is LOSING! To a Monstera deliciosa no less! Are you going to sit still for this!
Cattleyas have already been knocked out of the running -- beaten by Agaves if you can believe it!
Anyone can vote (though it is requested that each person only votes once). Time is almost up for voting in the Phal's round. Go to this site and scroll down to the the Sunday October 9, 2011 match. Come to the Phals' aid will there is still time. Make your voices heard!

I love this blog! I can't believe the Monstera is beating Phalaenopsis, especially considering the example pictures used. Maybe a lot of the people voting have killed a Phal or two? Or maybe the voters think of orchids as difficult to care for?

I voted too, Phals are definitely more interesting than Monstera deliciosa! So now the score is 50-50!

Oh? Just looked again, the Phal has 60 votes and the other has 59.

I definitely do enjoy his blog. His writing style is often quite amusing.
The "Rumble" has actually been quite fun. (Still bummed Cattleyas were eliminated in their first match.) Always interesting to see where the popularity lies. Phals are currently leading in this 2nd round of the Rumble, but for those who haven't voted yet I think there still is time. (And, of course feel free to vote on the other polls that are still open.) I believe Oncidiums and Dendrobiums still have their 2nd matches coming up.
Do keep checking back! Basically, there is a small group of elimination matches a day up until some lucky plant clinches the "top-seed". (Nice little double meaning there, yes? ) So when Phals (assuming they win their second match) enter their 3rd game match you can be there to support them as well as the other orchid groups in the running.

For those interested, check out PATSP's Wednesday October 12 segment:
Plants are the Strangest People
The Oncidium alliance's 2nd round match has just been posted! It is facing off against Beaucarnea recurvata variegata (ponytail palm).
Also, the Milt.s are squaring off against Polyscias fruticosa (Ming aralia).
They need your votes if they're to put these upstarts in their places!
Btw, thanks your dedication, Phals managed to beat out the Monstera -- but it was close!
