Tornado hits NYC
Im not sure, but I thought maybe we had a few members from Brooklyn and Staten Island, which got hit by a few Tornados in yesterday morning's hell of a storm. Hope everyone is ok.
Here in NYC it was chaos. Everything got flooded, streets, roads, highways, subways, railroads. No one could get to work, except me ofcourse .
Has anyone seen that movie, day after tomorrow? I'm thinking monster Tornados hitting historically tornado-less cities isn't that far fetched anymore.

I still have my family in NY and friends on Staten Island. They say it was terrible!
I read recently that the weather forecasters are saying the NYC area is over-due for a major hurricane!!!

Not funny Dot! Tornados aren't fun. I haven't personally experienced one but have experienced several "downdrafts" as meteorologists class them. They're scarry to me and when anyone gets in the way of "mother" (or "father") nature, it ain't gonna come out good. I am fortunate to live in the northern end of "tornado alley" and I haven't seen one yet. Tornados in NYC are rare and when they occur, they must cause all sorts of havoc. I am glad for all the survivors (now I'm starting to sound like Dennis )

I lived through a tornado that they said couldn't happen when I lived in Pittsburgh. Supposedly, tornadoes aren't supposed to be able to go up and down all of the hills - but this one did - and it did wreak havoc! Thankfully, though, no loss of life with that one.
I'll have to keep an eye on the weather over there to see how things are. Play it safe, everyone!

Don't get me wrong - it is a dire situation.
Offering arm swimmies isn't a bad thing? .. is it?
Just to clarify and it doesn't makes it any less significant, the tornado went through Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. NYC is made up of 5 boroughs. Manhattan being one of them. Most people think of NYC as being Manhattan but there are 4 other designated areas (counties) outside of that island - Staten Island(Richmond), Queens, Brooklyn(Kings) and the Bronx, that are within the NYC borders.
And as far as this area being over-due for a hurricane, well they(weather forecasters) say that every year.
I think they say that so they can say 'See, we told you so' when it does happen ...
Nature will do as it pleases - predictions for the most part are just guesstimations, even with all our technology .
Keep dry and stay safe all
