thats your antivirus doing its job. the cookies from this forum can also get the IP address of your server. The firewall has told the antivirus theres a cookie that sends back infos...it quarantined it but didnt delete it. If it was deleted by your antivirus then you cant get in the forum.

Thank you, Bud. I thought that was the case so I set my AV to ignore it.

Bud, can you explain that in layman's terminology ? There are those of us that don't speak cybergeek !! A lot of the "modern" terms come across like acronyms, the alphabet letters are in english but the word makes no sense ! I buy and EAT Oreo "cookies" so how did they get in my PC and what are they ??? Would be grateful for an understandable explanation in english or, preferably, American !!! LOL (Laugh Out Loud) !!!
TIA, Thanks In Advance !

Chryss, this forum sends to all its members' computers a "cookie" (A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is used for an origin website to send information to a user's browser and for the browser to return the information to the origin site. The information can be used for authentication, identification of a user session, user's preferences, shopping cart contents, or anything else that can be accomplished through storing text data)
The antivirus software in your personal computer and the firewall=this is already installed in your pc when you bought it: to protect your computer from hackers and attackers...will be suspicious of the cookie and isolate it in a separate forder for you to either delete or wash(clean up) or just let remain to be isolated...
The cookies sent by the forum is safe. It is only to authenticate its members to make sure it is really them and not impostors. The IP address is stored for future reference only. Nothing is given out to other parites...this is how this forum protects its members, that the only explanation there is.
